About A letter from the creator...

In 1999 ICANN invited me to Los Angeles to talk to them about Simplified Domains. I took it in good faith that they were truly interested in helping protect trademarks and were looking for an alternative method of expanding the domain name system. I was naïve and ICANN thought it was in their best interest to stay with a categorized domain name system.

Fast forward ~10 years, I was correct, categorized expansion happened, no trademark protection was put into place and it cost businesses hundreds of millions of dollars a year to manage their domain name libraries and protect their names.

I recently teamed up with a very smart technical and legal team to bring back Simplified Domains. In July of 2009 we opened the doors back up and give you a chance to make Internet history. We used all the best technologies and data sources to construct a world class alternative domain name system that can augment the legacy DNS system run by ICANN. Here are highlights of the system.

  • It’s built on Bind using MySQL as its database.
  • There is no technical difference between the legacy system and Simplified Domains. It’s safe.
  • We use world class cloud providers for our DNS servers. It’s scalable.
  • We search 10’s of millions of trademarks to protect businesses rightful ownership of names.
  • We filter out words within a common public domain dictionary to make sure common words are available for everyone to subscribe. We believe this honors the spirit of Simplified Domains and gives millions of word combinations for public use. Goo.gle for instance is trademarked, but sea.rch we feel should not be. The idea is to protect names, not words.
  • We filed a patent on our technology and invention. It’s protected.
  • Its here now and operational. We would consider licensing the technology to ICANN, but we are completely prepared to expand and forever augment the legacy domain name system.

I understand that subscribing to a Simplified Domain name is speculative. If you wait for Simplified Domains to be embraced, great names will already be registered. Join in on the Simplified movement, tell a friend, write about it in blogs, talk about it in forums. We appreciate your support.
